Welcome to the first ever Harman Smith Direct. Thank you all for reading the website and keeping up with everything I have been doing as of late. Obviously we have a long way to go for the website to be truly successful (I’d say about ten times the current viewership will do it) but the books themselves have been successful for a long time, and just recently I had a major breakthrough when it came to the Youtube channel. Thank you all for your support.
Now, first of all, I would like to explain the current roadmap for the website development. Currently I am in the process of having ads enabled on the website. Everything seems to be going well, but don’t be surprised to see ads on the website going forward. As for the website development itself I am currently working on a method of allowing patreon members to post on an exclusive forum, and incorporating a link to the Patreon exclusive discord into the website.
That’s right: We finally have actual Patreon perks! I struggled for a long time to decide on how best to reward Patreon members, but this seems to be a good fit. I’m definitely interested in giving you some more access to behind the scenes material and incorporating in aspects like fan polls of favorite characters, but that probably won’t happen for a while yet. For now, we need to expand my readership and start selling NEW books to NEW audiences. And I am very excited to CONFIRM that I have recently completely my upcoming project: The Dream Warrior.
Now this was a project that came about due to my frustrations with The Cattle Have Fangs (We’ll probably talk about that once that book has released) I had been editing that book for months, and I felt the urge to do something fresh, original, and creative. Something that I used to make. And so, on the spur of the moment, I whipped out the entire plot for this book in about a month, back in January.
Now, the reason I did not choose to release it immediately was because I felt that I owed it to my audience to finish The Cattle Have Fangs first. I was very determined to make it happen- but after months of editing, with no ending in sight, I decided to return to the Dream Warrior and finish it.
Now, the thing about the Dream Warrior is that I went into it with no real plan. This was a book where I really did make up the entire thing as I went along, with no plan. As a result of that, it’s very unique and unlike anything else that exists. On the other hand… well. I feel as if a lot of people are going to be very uncomfortable with some of the subject matter. Thankfully, because of my absolute creative freedom due to being independent, I don’t really have to care about what other people think and can kind of just do whatvever I want.
The Dream Warrior, at its core, is about a boy fighting against a whole world that hates him. The only person who loves and supports him throughout the roughest period of his life is a figment of his imagination- the Dream Girl. The Dream Girl encourages him to fight bullies, stand up to teachers, and rebel against his abusive parents. It is a story based on my own life and experiences, where the only positive thing in my life was my own imagination.
It is about 32,000 words long, which is considerably shorter than any of my other books, however because of the current state of my business I believe this is a perfectly reasonable length. I have recently slashed the prices of all of my books to $2.99 each. I would much rather have more people buy books than simply upcharge on a produce that could easily be much cheaper. As a result- in the immediate future my intention is to write shorter books in the 40,000-60,000 ranges, but have them be much more affordable. This will allow me the freedom to tackle all sorts of different projects, get books out far more quickly, and prevent the issues that I had with American Evil and The Cattle Have Fangs where I had way too many characters and ideas condensed into a single novel.
I believe the next book that I will release is The Cattle Have Fangs, and after that The Great Detective Passion. But after that point I WILL be producing new material, and a lot of what I produce next is going to be heavily influenced by your feedback. So please support the Patreon, subscribe to the Youtube channel, and especially buy and review books if you want to keep supporting my content. Obviously I have big plans after the website is established- I fully intend to go into video game and toy development- but all that is probably years down the line. For now, support me in any way you can. You can expect the full release of the Dream Warrior very very soon priced at a very reasonable $2.99.
Thank you all for reading.
